Short Research Description

The Young Lab focus is primarily on the systematics, taxonomy, phylogeny, biodiversity, and natural history of insects, with an emphasis on beetles (Coleoptera). Projects range from survey work in Wisconsin (site to statewide) to taxonomic and biosystematics research worldwide in scope. I also serve as Director of the University of Wisconsin Insect Research Collection (WIRC). Current emphasis in the WIRC relates to imaging and data-basing specimens in addition to traditional natural history collection tasks.
