Short Research Description

Our work centers on modern methods for extracting useful information from large databases that are collected in many fields. Demographic studies involving human subjects as well as clinical trials are included. For example, in a study of women with ovarian cancer, the women were treated with a particular drug, which turned out to work well on some women but not others. In this study, extensive genetic and other information was collected.

Significance:
The statistical problem is to build a procedure from the genetic and other information which will have some ability to predict who will benefit from the drug and who will not.
